10 volunteers from Ireland travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal to visit the projects run and funded by Indreni.org on the ground in Nepal. Included in the group were 3 teenagers, accompanied by their parents, which provided a once-in-a-lifetime bonding experience for them. Participants got to visit the 2 children homes and 2 schools in Kathmandu, Nepal. They also got to meet the 50 children in Indreni care, spend time with staff, carers and teachers, as well as visit the vegetable farm that provides food and revenue for the organisation.
The group also travelled across country to visit the rural town of Simthali, where Indreni.org supports the teachers of 3 local schools, a micro-financing cooperative that provides finance to women-led business, and meet the children and staff in each school.
The purpose of this trip is multi-faceted; to introduce new people to the great work being done on the ground in Nepal, to raise additional funds for the organisation, give the participants a life-changing experience and deepen the connection we have with the Nepalese-led team, doing all this great work on the ground in Kathmandu.
